Getting a Life
Is a cross-government programme which aims
“to find out how to bring together assessment, decision making and funding into one clear way of helping people to ‘Get A Life’ - and then do it”. We want to see more people with learning disabilities in real jobs, getting equal life opportunities (including housing, friends and relationships).
Getting a Life is about ‘joined-up’ local, regional and national government. Herefordshire and miEnterprise are taking part in the programme as one of 12 local “demonstration sites” around England, focusing mainly on young people in transition (age 14 to 25). The programme has ministerial commitment from four government departments as well as the Office for Disability Issues:
